I'm Ready for Summer

Summer is still several months away but our preschoolers enjoyed our Super Summer Seashore Safari!  Our MWF classes are beginning to add sea creatures to the bulletin board.

Step by step drawing cards in the art center show our students how to draw sea creatures.  Check out Ed Embereley's website. It will show your preschooler how to use shapes and letters to draw animals and much more.

Our MWF afternoon class had a special visitor!  An octopus provided a wonderful opportunity for us to be marine biologists.  We learned the many parts of an octopus, how they move and what they eat.  A big thank you to Mrs. V for this amazing experience!

More Summer and Sunshine

Our Super Summer Seashore Safari continues to provide a lot of smiles for our preschoolers.  There are many activities to choose! Like...

Gluing seashells...

Seashore counting...
5-12 for MWF classes

4-10 for our TTh 3 y/o class

Our TTh 3 y/o are 'crabby'

Our MWF preK classes are working on sea creatures to place on our ocean floor.  Here is the before...
Children trace, color and cut.  They make a tally mark and get to press the 'easy button.'  We'll post the 'after' picture soon.

S is for snake skin.  Our MWF students will get a chance to look at the patterns and details with magnifying glasses.

Ask your child about all the summer and seashore activities in our room.

Summer, Sunshine and the Sea

It's time for us to leave winter behind and head to the seashore!
We will have a beach to play in during center time.  Our messy tub is filled with sand, seashells and sea creatures and more!  Check out past posts to see what's happening!

More Concentric Circles

Our lessons have moved on to Pablo Picasso but our young artists are still very inspired by Wassily Kandinsky...

I'll Meet You at the Top of the Coconut Tree

Our TTh 3 y/o students were able to look at
 and explore coconuts today.
Ask your child about the coconuts.  Was the coconut smooth or rough?  What was on the inside?  How did the 'water' on the inside come out?  How did the coconut 'open'?

Our MWF preK classes created a giant Valentine.

Happy New Year!

Our MCP MWF students are learning that children all over the world celebrate holidays.  We have been learning about Chinese New Year!  We learned the color red and oranges are used for good luck.  Good luck is when you want good things to happen.

We watched a Dragon Dance...

and a Lion Dance...

When we were little we learned how to eat with a spoon and a fork but children in China learn to eat with chopsticks...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZU_4L6-vUA

Pandas live in China and eat bamboo.  We learned pandas are endangered and saw a panda in the wild...

and we went to the National Zoo in Washington D.C.

and a quick 'trip' to the San Diego zoo to see their panda exhibit...

Enjoy these videos with your child!
