The Gingerbread Man and Friends 2016

What was happening last week in our MWF classes?  Well, the Gingerbread Man and his friends took over our room!

Adding more ginger to our pumpkin pie playdough recipe made our room smell fabulous and inspired the children to make all sorts of gingerbread people.  We have buttons, googly eyes, pipe cleaners and beads to create all sorts of gingerbread creatures.

I found this box at Christmas time and knew it was perfect for our favorite ABC game.  We have many variations of this game and the kids LOVE them!

Gingerbread stencils, paper, markers and imagination is all that is needed at the art table!

Each child received a gingerbread cut out.  We placed markers, scissors, glue, googly eyes, beads and lots of die cuts on the table and look what happened!
After each story, the children were asked to recall details from the story.  We asked...
Was there a gingerbread man in the story?
Where did the story take place?
Who chased the gingerbread person?
Was the gingerbread cookie eaten?
As we write the answers on large chart paper, we are able to spell 'YES' and 'NO'.

Next?  The Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs.
