This science center challenges our MWF preK students to sort the materials. After they sort, a teacher checks and student presses 'the easy button.'

Egg-citing Times at MCP
Our TTh class has been learning about birds. We have seen that eggs are strong. Last week we put ten books on four eggs and they did not crack!
How to---
This is a great experiment and totally amazes the children. You will need:
4 eggs
1 egg carton
A sheet of paper (paper towels, wax paper)
A 2 foot stack of hardback books that are about the same size and weight (we use our hardback I SPY books)
Now place the eggs in the second and fifth row of the egg carton with the pointy part of the egg facing down. Place a sheet of paper over the eggs in case of breakage. Now here comes the egg-citing part. Begin to put the books on one at a time.
We want them to see how strong the egg is and how a mother bird can sit on her eggs and they don't break.
So now the children know eggs are strong. Could we walk on eggs? Yes, we can! We ask for volunteers and most of the children were eager to try it!

I'm a huge Steve Spangler fan and found this experiment on his website. Check it with your child! There are lots of fun experiments and activities you and your child can try at home.

The Dark Side of the Moon
Our study of the universe continues with our preK students with activities they may choose during center time.
Moon phases-children trace the moon shape, color and add stars. When they are finished, they show a teacher and press the easy button!

MCP Space Rangers
We have a new 'messy tub'. It's filled with black and blue crinkle paper. Rockets, astronauts, space shuttles and planets are providing a lot of fun play for future explorers!

St. Patrick's Day 2019
We love 'travelling' with our preschoolers and learning how other children around the world live. This week we 'visited' Ireland.

A bin of green in the art center makes colorful collages.
This leprechaun will be easy to catch! We love creating crafts at MCP and our students are such good listeners.

During center time students could color the Irish flag and press 'the easy button.'

Teachers give directions using shapes and letters and students are able to draw a leprechaun.

Lots of green and orange paint!

Fun Food Friday had students sorting, counting and creating patterns with Lucky Charms cereal!
What a fun week! We are so lucky to have your child at MCP! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

MCP Guide to the Galaxy
It's time for MCP students to 'travel' to the outer limits! Our rocket may not look sturdy but combined with the imagination of our students, we travel millions of miles around the galaxy.

Computers, jet packs and more to take on our trip!
