Sticky Sticky Bubblegum

We sing a lot at MCP.  One song the children LOVE is 'Sticky Sticky Bubblegum'.  There are many variations to this song.  Here's the MCP version (you will not see me on YouTube performing :-)  I prefer the classroom!)

I begin by asking the kids if they brought gum.  We all pretend to pull gum out of our pockets or I hand out gum to those that do not have any in their pockets.  We unwrap the gum and put the wrappers in our pockets and start chewing.  Next we start pretending to blow our bubblegum until it POPS!

Oh, no...our hands are sticky.  We start clapping and singing...

Sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky bubblegum.
Sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky bubblegum.
Sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky bubblegum.
Stick your....hands to your cheeks.

(This is where we start having some fun!  We start out with our body parts.)

Unstick! (start clapping and singing)

Sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky bubblegum.
Sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky bubblegum.
Sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky bubblegum.
Stick your....
(Here are some more ideas.)
hand to your elbow*hands to your knees*pinky on your nose*pointer finger on your eyebrow

You get the idea.  After the children start to understand the concept of the song, we start to get really silly.
We stick our head to a friend's head, back to back, our elbow to a friend's elbow.  We stick our head to a table, the wall, the floor.  We stick to colors---stick your hand on something red, yellow, etc. and the children go around the room and look for the colors. If you have had older children go through our program, they might be able to help younger siblings sing!  We sing this song a lot so have some fun singing 'Sticky Bubblegum' with your child today!
