My Impenetrable Cereal Box Fort version 9.0

It's 17' 6" long.  Our biggest fort ever!
There is a larger fort and a smaller fort.
We are still trying to reach the
ceiling on the addition.

Looking in through the window...

Another window view...

The front door...
And how many cereal boxes does it take to build a cereal box fort with two rooms, two doors and three windows?  Current count is 334.  Thank you so much for saving cereal boxes.  The children LOVE it!

Kandinsky---our final piece

We have moved on from Kandinsky to aboriginal art.  Our MWF preK classes painted a large Kandinsky.

First we painted colors next to each other.

Then we added black circles and lines.

Ready for the art gallery!

Does your child want to learn more about polar animals or penguins?  Check out these animal cams or search 'penguin/polar bear facts for kids' (or something similar) in a YouTube search. You will discover a lot of great (and some not so great) videos on polar animals.

On Target

Our MWF students spent Masterpiece Monday painting their own version of Kandinsky's Concentric Circles. Teachers sketched circles on canvas and students chose their colors.  These are hanging the MCP Art Gallery and will be at our art exhibit at the end of the year.

Let's build STEAM---science, technology, engineering,  ART, and math.

Straight from the Heart

Valentine's Day is about a month away. We love making Valentine's Day cards at MCP and this year we are creating a new card design
for mommies and daddies.
Need some ideas for a cute Valentine card
for home or school?

We're Halfway There

Our count is at 178 cereal boxes but we are not done yet!  The fort will open for 'business' tomorrow.  We will continue building until we reach the ceiling.  If we still have cereal boxes, we are going to build a smaller fort around the science & math table.

Dinosaurs & Snowmen at MCP

The start of the new year means dinosaurs and snowmen in our classroom.  Here are few things that will be available for play in the next few weeks.

Dinosaur dress-ups---

Dinosaurs are big so they have big numbers.  Students place stickers on dinosaur, have a teacher check and either add or subtract stickers.  When finished, students get to press the 'easy button'.

Sand will be in the messy tub to dig for fossils

Snowmen lacing cards for small motor skills.  Why are small motor skills important?

Snowmen contain letters for practice with a friend!

Roll the dice and count out the caps.

And the cereal box fort will be constructed!

We are looking forward to a fun filled new year at MCP!
