The Carrot Seed 2019

Our TTh 3 y/o class had fun with The Carrot Seed  by Ruth Krauss.  This classic children's story shows that one determined little boy can grow one giant carrot.  Children cut out the basic carrot shaped and glued on green leaves.

Want to do more with your child?  Visit local nurseries.  Look at and explore all the plants.  Ask questions.  Is is it a tree, a flower or vegetable?  Enjoy spring with your child and explore seeds and plants.

We Dig Gardening!

Our dramatic play center has students digging in 'dirt' (plastic caps), planting flowers and vegetables for late summer harvest! Our budding botanists will be exploring plants and seeds in the classroom.

Head to your library for more fractured fairy tales.  Here's a list to get you and child started---

Easter Has Us Hopping

We need to fill our Easter basket with eggs!  Our TTh classes cut eggs and MWF preK classes have to trace and cut, make a tally mark and press 'the easy button'.

Glue the eggs in the basket, have a teacher check and press 'the easy button.'

These bunnies need their tale!

Match the upper case letter to the lower case letter.

Caterpillar art...

Lots of green for another caterpillar...

Can't get enough Eric Carle?

Picasso---Art Center Activity

Just because we are done with an artist doesn't mean we are done with the artist.  This activity is in our art center for students to create during center time.

"It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child."

Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso 2019

Our MWF students learned about the works of Pablo Picasso.  We learned about cubism and introduced and identified basic geometric shapes.  Students created a portrait inspired by Picasso's work. First we drew a few black lines and then colored in the shapes.

Next we place lots of eyes, noses and mouths in the center of the table.

And hair!  Children are given short strips of construction paper and a scissors.
