The Carrot Seed 2018
Last week our TTh 3 y/o class had fun with The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss. This classic children's story shows that one determined little boy can grow one giant carrot.
Students are getting much better with a scissors and cut out their carrot shape.
Anything orange makes a creative carrot collage! Paper scraps, pipe cleaners, pom poms, tissue paper, fun foam and more!
Easy carrot muffin recipe for you and your child!
Want to do more with your child? Visit local nurseries. Look at and explore all the plants. Ask questions. Is is it a tree, a flower or vegetable? Enjoy spring with your child and explore seeds and plants.

Washi Tape
I love it when families clean out and donate art supplies to our classroom. It provides a lot of creative fun for our students plus saves MCP lots and lots money!
A few months ago we were gifted with a bag of washi tape. Washi is a traditional Japanese paper. We have never used washi tape at MCP so I had no idea how it would be received by the kiddos. It was placed in the art center with some tag-board (cereal boxes) and scissors for our MWF classes. Creativity took off at full speed!

100
Our MWF classes have been practicing counting to one hundred. We have also introduced counting by tens so that this concept will be familiar to them when they enter kindergarten. The kids love it! Wednesday is 100 Wednesday and students have the opportunity to work in small groups with a teacher counting to one hundred using stickers. We have been doing this all year.
Now we have a center activity that the children can do independently. Craft sticks, marker caps, playing cards and more will be available for counting. Children will take their one hundred things home and will be able to count again!

The Gingerbread Man 2018
Our MWF preK classes are having a sweet time with many stories about the Gingerbread Man and his friends. After we read each story, the children are asked to recall details about the story and we compare and contrast the stories. How are they the same? How are they different? On Friday, each child created their gingerbread person.

It is a joy to watch the children create and talk about their gingerbread person. We also wrote our own version of the Gingerbread Man. You and your child can do the same at home.
There is a lot more happening in our classroom. Check it out!
