I Am Thankful to Be A Preschool Teacher
I am so thankful to be your child's preschool teacher. Here are my top ten reasons why I am thankful to be a preschool teacher:
- I am thankful you chose MCP for your child's first school experience. It means a lot.
- I am so thankful that we teach your child to learn in new ways. Blocks, art, science and puzzles. I love seeing the 'light bulb' go off and those Aha! moments.
- The struggle is hard but when your child puts on their coat, places the last piece in the puzzle or counts to ten and says, "I did it!", it's well worth it.
- I am thankful I get to express my inner child every day.
- Teaching preschool has made me more creative and resourceful. I look at things differently and for this I am thankful. Plastic caps, cardboard tubes, cereal boxes and much more have a creative and academic impact on our classroom.
- Fifteen kids in a classroom. Teaching preschool has made me a patient person even outside the classroom.
- Teaching preschool allows me to see the wonder and excitement of simple things.
- I am thankful I have been allowed to develop our own curriculum for MCP. We are able to explore art, chemistry, artists, science, travel the world and much more. I have learned a lot from teaching preschool like what cropolite is.
- I love it that preschoolers are completely honest and super funny.
- I am thankful to share the day with your child. Every day is something new!

MCP Pizza
You will need:
mixing bowl
spoon
cookie sheet or pizza pan
cooking spray
1 can refrigerated biscuits
pizza sauce
shredded mozzarella
Preheat oven to 400* and spray the cookie sheet. Tear the biscuits into pieces and put in large bowl. Cover the biscuits with pizza sauce and mix. Biscuits should be covered with sauce but not runny. Pour the biscuits on a greased cookie sheet. Top with mozzarella. Bake 12-14 minutes.
We used four cans of biscuits and fed fifteen children. Most had seconds and some had thirds. At home, we have put on topppings and then the cheese. Yummy!

A Piece of Pizza
Our TTh 3 y/o class will enjoy many activities with pizza this week. We learned about the parts of a pizza. The crust begins as a dough. The sauce is made of tomatoes and most 3 y/o do not like a wide variety of pizza toppings.
The children made a paper pizza. We see such an improvement in listening and following teacher directions after just a few months and now using glue is easy!

Krazy for Kandinsky
We have studying the works of Wassily Kandinsky. I was cutting paper plates for lacing cards and...
our preschoolers created these! Why so many circles? Ask your child!

We have learned that artists name their art. Kandinsky's Black Lines brought out paper and crayons. The children filled the paper with color and added black lines on top.

Food Science
The month of November is food and food science for our MWF classes. Here's a quick look at what we have been doing:
We learned that all over the world children eat bread. We learned new words: yeast, dough, knead, rise and much more. We watched naan and tortillas being made, visited a wheat field to watch harvest and followed the wheat to the flour mill.
Last week we learned about liquids and solids. Cream and condensed milk freezes into an ice cream treat for our Fun Food Friday. We will continue watching ice melt and freeze. We are learning to observe and make predications when we do experiments. We had water in one cola bottle and milk in another and observed the changes.
Can't get enough food science with your child and want to do more? Check out these experiments with Steve Spangler---https://www.stevespanglerscience.com/lab/categories/experiments/food-science/

PreK Chemistry
What happens when you add water to flour? What happens when you add water to baking soda?
What happens when you add vinegar to flour? What happens when you add vinegar to baking soda?
Your child can tell you all about today's experiments.
We love doing experiments with our preschoolers. We are constantly asking them to observe and predict what will happen during the experiment.
This week we are learning about liquids and solids. Does temperature change liquids? Does temperature solids?
We also did this experiment I found on Steve Spangler Science
It's cola, water and milk. We added water to fill one bottle and milk to the other. What happened?

What a Wonderful World
Our MWF classes are really enjoying looking at maps and the globe. This center is a very simple center for our MWF classes. After they complete their globe they get to press the 'easy button'.
